Theme of Note: Memorial Ink

When tattooing initially became popular in the west it was stereotyped towards criminals, military and those of the community considering themselves as "rebellious"

Nowadays everybody
and their grandmother are getting tattoos and it's not just to "look cool" or be "with it". A lot of tattoos have more meaning than some people may consider which is why I'm starting this next short segment on specific tattoo themes and their relevance, starting with Memorials.

Memorial tattoos - as the name suggests - are designed and inked for the remembrance of those who have passed on or whom people just generally miss even if they haven't died. More people are receiving memorial tattoos nowadays because they are realizing that it's an effective means to recall the memories of their loved ones.

It isn't just the tattoo itself that can emotionally heal them; some people believe the pain of the needle
itself can set forth a personally justified hurting, in the hope that the one they are getting this for might look upon on them and see just how much they would endure in remembering their names.

These are just some of the examples of brilliant memorials that are found around the www; the time and money spent in these truly shows their love towards the intending name.

In short, memorial tattoos, in my eyes, are truly a magnificent reason to be "inked" and in my mind i find them the most honorable tattoos to get in a persons name.

First artist dedication: Ami James

Ok, so this first artist of note is the TV star and tattooing wonder of Ami James.

Born in Israel in 1972 Ami James was originally in the Israeli defense forces before moving to America after quitting. At the age of 20, Ami had discovered and was well into honing his new found tattooing qualities.

In leaving his family in Israel he has found a second family within his friends, along with his ever growing tattooing skills, within Miami and in his colleagues of the Miami Ink team.

Working alongside fellow tattooist Chris Nunez, Ami decided to open up Miami Ink (the shop, not the show) When he began seeing his immense affection towards the creation of artwork in which his clients would have with them forever more.

Ami James's artistic love does not simply end at tattooing - he has also designed phones for Motorola and also has his own metalwork bike shop called LoveHate Choppers.

Ami's love for motorcycles had spanned through his history until the day he had been involved in an accident which he was considered very lucky to escape from.

After several years after the incident, however, Ami was determined to get back on the bike and ride again. Starting his love with metalwork, he slowly comforted himself with motorcycles once more before purchasing and riding his own chopper as though he had forged a new sense of confidence with bikes.

Ami James has artistic experience of all perspectives; from tattooing, motorcycles, even designing mobile (cell) phones. Ami James is, in my opinion, the best artist possible to begin this new segment of my dedications.

Plenty more fish in the sea...

Guess who?? ye..what? who? no, this isnt popeye! cheeky lil...

anyways, yeah i'm back from my very unneeded but still loved holibags from here (hehe :P ) and i just thought i'd show another piece of my artwork, only this one is now on my skin; proof :-

Yes folks - it's mine and real. But enough about my bulging biceps, the tattoo itself is quite an impressive piece of work (seeing as i merely showed them my sketch and they made a masterpiece of it). A piece like this would take approximately an hour and a half to fully complete black and Grey (henceforth B+G). Colour may take longer, possibly a total of 2 hours but don't quote me there.

Now that my holibags is over i will be returning frequently and i now have a new schedule; every week i will be posting up a piece of tattooing genius from a few of my favorite artists and famous tattooist with dedications to numerous artists.

Til next time!

Ciao!
