Theme of Note: Memorial Ink

When tattooing initially became popular in the west it was stereotyped towards criminals, military and those of the community considering themselves as "rebellious"

Nowadays everybody
and their grandmother are getting tattoos and it's not just to "look cool" or be "with it". A lot of tattoos have more meaning than some people may consider which is why I'm starting this next short segment on specific tattoo themes and their relevance, starting with Memorials.

Memorial tattoos - as the name suggests - are designed and inked for the remembrance of those who have passed on or whom people just generally miss even if they haven't died. More people are receiving memorial tattoos nowadays because they are realizing that it's an effective means to recall the memories of their loved ones.

It isn't just the tattoo itself that can emotionally heal them; some people believe the pain of the needle
itself can set forth a personally justified hurting, in the hope that the one they are getting this for might look upon on them and see just how much they would endure in remembering their names.

These are just some of the examples of brilliant memorials that are found around the www; the time and money spent in these truly shows their love towards the intending name.

In short, memorial tattoos, in my eyes, are truly a magnificent reason to be "inked" and in my mind i find them the most honorable tattoos to get in a persons name.

First artist dedication: Ami James

Ok, so this first artist of note is the TV star and tattooing wonder of Ami James.

Born in Israel in 1972 Ami James was originally in the Israeli defense forces before moving to America after quitting. At the age of 20, Ami had discovered and was well into honing his new found tattooing qualities.

In leaving his family in Israel he has found a second family within his friends, along with his ever growing tattooing skills, within Miami and in his colleagues of the Miami Ink team.

Working alongside fellow tattooist Chris Nunez, Ami decided to open up Miami Ink (the shop, not the show) When he began seeing his immense affection towards the creation of artwork in which his clients would have with them forever more.

Ami James's artistic love does not simply end at tattooing - he has also designed phones for Motorola and also has his own metalwork bike shop called LoveHate Choppers.

Ami's love for motorcycles had spanned through his history until the day he had been involved in an accident which he was considered very lucky to escape from.

After several years after the incident, however, Ami was determined to get back on the bike and ride again. Starting his love with metalwork, he slowly comforted himself with motorcycles once more before purchasing and riding his own chopper as though he had forged a new sense of confidence with bikes.

Ami James has artistic experience of all perspectives; from tattooing, motorcycles, even designing mobile (cell) phones. Ami James is, in my opinion, the best artist possible to begin this new segment of my dedications.

Plenty more fish in the sea...

Guess who?? ye..what? who? no, this isnt popeye! cheeky lil...

anyways, yeah i'm back from my very unneeded but still loved holibags from here (hehe :P ) and i just thought i'd show another piece of my artwork, only this one is now on my skin; proof :-

Yes folks - it's mine and real. But enough about my bulging biceps, the tattoo itself is quite an impressive piece of work (seeing as i merely showed them my sketch and they made a masterpiece of it). A piece like this would take approximately an hour and a half to fully complete black and Grey (henceforth B+G). Colour may take longer, possibly a total of 2 hours but don't quote me there.

Now that my holibags is over i will be returning frequently and i now have a new schedule; every week i will be posting up a piece of tattooing genius from a few of my favorite artists and famous tattooist with dedications to numerous artists.

Til next time!

Ciao!

Marked Metal

Hey, hows things?

OK so this one is mainly based around my latest and by far greatest tattoo design to date, I've shown it already to a number of my college friends but now it's time for it to go up for everybody else to see the wonder (lol) of my artwork - TA DA!
Well? it's only a linear yeah but i personally think it's pretty good. The blank spots round the edges are where the skin is tearing or peeling away, showing the machinery inside.

This was requested by a friend of mine, Jamie, from work and he simply wanted a mechanical arms. I thought that just a mech arm would be too basic and essentially dull and boring as a tattoo so i discussed some things and we had agreed on it being where the skin tears, like a flesh wound, and under the skin you see the mechanics of his arm.

Once we had gotten the idea set out i began working on the initial sketch before outlining it - what you see here is a finished outline copy.

Tell me what you guys think and I'll be back soon with more sketches

'Ink it's all over??

I'm back! Back from the dead, or rather the "drawing room" as i have renamed my bedroom since my tattoo art addiction has now gone insanely huge with people asking for me to design tattoos for them along with me still being a newbie at tattoo art.

I'll be honest, i don't quite know everything about sketching tattoos, the ones i have done are awesome but I've yet to spread my wings, as they say, and vary my work to all aspects of culture, religions, nationalities etc etc

Let's face it, I've only been sketching tattoo art about 4 or 5 months, I'm not too bad in my own view and in the view of some of my friends and relatives but essentially i have a long way to go.

I have decided to make this blog mainly (but not entirely) to do with my efforts to becoming a tattoo artist and I'll often post some of my designs up on here for all to see (i don't care how bad they are, I'll put them up and take whatever advice/abuse you have to give)

Well, I'm away just now to keep sketching, see you soon and I'll be sure to post a couple up next time around...

Without a leg to stand on...

OK so i was another meeting at college today, ICT audit (like i knew what audits were) and it turned out to be cool, i got my lunch free, again, so i was fine, he he. Some good points were raise as well. We discussed the Sun Rays which we use in college every day we're in (so 3 days per week) such as performance (fail), media playability (fail) and memory usage (fail) so the organiser of the audit (well I'm assuming he organised it) had said he was gonna sort out these problems and resolve them which was a fairly decent result.

Also, on the way back from town today after the audit, my chair died! And yes, it was fully charged and all fine beforehand...it wasn't a case of forgetting to charge it or a loose wire, it ACTUALLY just died! like the battery had cut in the middle of city centre! I owe a mate of mine for getting me back to a taxi to go home but it was NOT fun at all! It's been away to get fixed and I'm now sorted with a new wiring, new batteries and a new control box so there should be no problems at all which essentially is awesomeness in a can but hell, lets not get too excited....

If anymore updates show, I'll check back

I'm a rep, YAY

Ok so it's currently 18:38 and today was my first day at the college's board meetings, and it wasnt too bad actually. There was a lot of things going on in it, i'm not discussing it ALL here cause that'd be too long and frankly i cant be bothered, but it was good and i got 2 weeks til the next one.

Oh, plus i gave my friend that tattoo design he wanted, he seemed happy so i'm ok with that. I also got my mum's design complete too and she seems to love it (not sure whether she really does or whether she's saying that cause she's my mum, you know how parents are..)

I've got a good number of designs, not all like this, but i cant be bothered putting them all up yet...one day though! One day, they shall be posted.

Well, that's all for now, i'll check back again tomorrow.
